Sunshine Blogger Award Challange

I have been tagged for this award/challenge before but this is my first time doing it so forgive any mistakes and please correct me.

I was tagged by Extra Life who writes awesome video game and movie reviews, thank you so much!

1. What do you feel is the ideal length for a studio album (or LP)?

I don’t know. I like music and all but only on a surface level so I don’t really have an answer for this one, sorry.

2. Have you ever accidentally rendered a physical copy of a game/film/album unplayable?

Yep. It was Tales from the Borderlands.

I have a system update on my PS4 and had the disk still in it while it was updating. When it finished and I tried to play it, I couldn’t. Apparently, the update messed up the disk? I still don’t know how that happened, all I know is now that disk doesn’t work.

Thankfully it’s this month’s free game so it’s alright now. I’m planning on playing it soon.

3. What series do you feel has a confusing naming convention?

Insert Final Fantasy joke here.

Seriously though, anime, in general, have weird titles such as I Couldn’t Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job, My youth romantic comedy is wrong as I expected and Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

Sometimes the title has nothing to do with the anime! Like Bleach for example, there isn’t a character, item or plot point that has anything to do with bleach so why call it that?

4. What critical darling do you feel completely failed to live up to the hype?

I couldn’t get into Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. I get why it got all the praise and admiration but frankly, I found it a rather dull experience and I had to pretty much force myself to finish it.

5. Which work do you feel should have deserved more attention?

VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action.

I know that this game seems to be rather popular but not enough people talk about it despite the sequel in the works. It is easily one of my favourite games of all time with some stellar storytelling, well-developed characters and fun gameplay.

6. Do you prefer foreign work to be subtitled or dubbed in your language?

It depends. I tend to watch anime subtitled unless its a show with a lot of action or the dub is well loved like Black Lagoon, Death Note and Cowboy BeBop.

I tend to like playing slower paced games in their native language unless it’s a game that requires a lot of focus during gameplay and to really pay attention to the plot.

7. Can you remember an instance in which you managed to succeed in a game by the skin of your teeth (e.g. beat a difficult boss with barely any health remaining)?

As much as I love games, I suck at them so honestly, almost every boss fight is a struggle for me!

The most recent one I can think of was the last battle with Zenos in Final Fantasy XIV. It took about five attempts and I only just managed to get the last blow before he took my last bit of health.

8. Can you remember an instance in which you got completely robbed playing a game?

Not exactly sure what you mean by robbed.

If this is about loot boxes, I spent way too much on Overwatch loot boxes when I used to play. I dread to think what the total amount spent is. Loot boxes are the devil but I was so desperate to get all the D.Va skins I coughed up more than I care to admit.

9. What is your favourite arcade game?

House of the Dead!

My friend rented out a gaming cafe for his birthday so all the arcade games were free so I played through the whole game. It was a blast! I also like Aliens Extermination and any shooter really. Which is kinda funny since I normally don’t like FPS games except when it comes to arcade games, you need to pry those plastic guns out of my cold dead hands.

10. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Easy, Japan.

I know how cliche that sounds but I am desperate to go. Not only am I a gamer and anime fan, but I also love folklore and mythology and Japan has some of the best I have ever read.

11. What critics (in any medium) do you find to actually be reputable?

When it comes to games I tend to listen to what Yahtzee Croshaw has to say but I do take it with a pinch of salt since we seem to have different taste. Even when I disagree with his opinion he still makes me chuckle at least.

For anime, my go-to reviewer has to be Arkada from Glass Reflections as he backs up his opinions and has a chill way of discussing anime compared to other reviewers.

Now it’s my time to tag you guys and ask a few questions!

  1. What is the worst game you have ever played?
  2. If you had to switch lives with one fictional character for a month, who and why?
  3. What song do you play on repeat?
  4. Tea or coffee?
  5. What book are you reading? If you aren’t reading one, what is the last book you read?
  6. tenor (1)Do you play any tabletop games?
  7. What superpower would you want?
  8. Which game has your favourite soundtrack?
  9. What anime troupe is your favourite?
