I did plan to write a new E3 drinking game but due to college deadlines and totally forgetting what dates E3 was this year it slipped my mind. Sorry!
Also, sorry that this is really late and if I am being honest, pretty bad. I have been really distracted and unmotivated today despite getting good news.
That being said, it seems like this year was a pretty good one. I say that as I didn’t really keep up with all the announcements, unlike previous years yet it seemed like people were more excited about the announcements this year compared to the last. So let me ramble about the ones that I personally am hyped for.
Of course, Cyberpunk 2077 is on the top of the list. As a fan of The Witcher and lover of sci-fi distopias needless to say I was already on board the moment this was announced and now we finally have a release date, April 2020, and have been shown more about the upcoming game.
Namely, Keanu Reeves was revealed to be in the game and gave us one of the most wholesome heckler moments I have ever seen. Apparently, the developers really loved the ‘hecklers’ shout that they are going to reward him with a free Collector’s Edition of the game.
UPDATE the sweetheart turned it down and asked if they could donate the cost of the game to charity instead. Aww!
Speaking of updates, we now finally have more info about the Final Fantasy VII Remake! We now have a confirmed release date slated as the 3rd of March 2020, got to see more of the gameplay and see the updated looks of some beloved characters. I will admit I have only played a little of the original but I am keen to play the remaster.
Not content with just that, they decided to announce that a Remaster of Final Fantasy VIII will be out on PC this year.
Now, the game that came a close second to Cyberpunk 2077 for me is the latest Watch Dogs game, Watch Dogs: Legion. While the first Watch Dogs kinda bored me I loved Watch Dogs 2, it is an absolute blast to play and has a pretty interesting story. So I interested in seeing what Watch Dogs: Legion will bring to the table.
While there have been some great announcements, I think the winner of E3 has to be Nintendo.
Man, do I seriously want a Switch now. As well as updates on Animal Crossing, Smash Bros and Pokémon we were blessed with some awesome announcements such as Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Seiken Densetsu 3 Remake Trials Of Mana, Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake Dungeon-Maker Mode, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, No More Heroes 3, Daemon x Machina, Panzer Dragoon Remake, Cadence Of Hyrule and even a new Contra game!
Now despite being hyped as hell for several titles, I will not preorder any of these games. Partly because I’m broke as usual but also because it’s my rule to never preorder. Let us not forget the shitstorm that was No Man’s Sky. I don’t see the point in buying something that isn’t out yet.
Though I will admit I have done so a few times in the past. These tend to be either remakes of games I love or additional content. Such as my most recent Preorder, the expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, Shadowbringers.
I hope you enjoyed E3. Let me know what announcements caught your eye!
