I used to be an avid Manga enthusiast. A few years ago I would get at least two Mangas a month and read several online. Now I haven’t bought a Manga in about four months, give or take, and I don’t read many online these days.
That being said, when I find one I really like I treasure it. That is the case with my most recent discovery, Gokushufudou: The Way of The House Husband.
Gokushufudou: The Way of The House Husband is a slice of life comedy that follows Tatsu, also known as Immortal Tatsu, a former Yakuza who is now House Husband.
He hasn’t abandoned his Yakuza way of handling situations but instead uses his past to become the best House Husband he could possibly be. Instead of fighting for territory, his battles take place in the supermarket as he hunts for bargains and his deadly knife skills are being put to good use in the kitchen.
Tatsu comes across as intimidating but is a rather kindhearted guy, he even does the odd bit for charity. All he wants is to make his wife Miku happy. He does everything he can to support her.
We don’t know exactly how Tatsu and Miku met and fell in love but these two are adorable! Miku doesn’t seem to care about how others think of Tatsu nor his past. She loves him just the way he is.
Gokushufudou is one hell of a funny Manga. Tatsu and his ‘special’ way of getting chores done is comedic gold. He never does anything half-heartedly whether its shopping, laundry or even dressing up as Santa for the local kids. Sometimes folk from his past show up or his past comes back to bite him which leads to some great hijinks.
Now, I’m not really a slice of life gal myself but I love Gokushufudou. It’s a nice, lighthearted telling of Tatsu’s day to day life with plenty of laughs and a lot of heart. Check it out if you get the chance!
