I know I’m a bit on the late side for talking about this, but my blog my rules and I want to get my thoughts about this upcoming movie out of my system.
Out of the gate, I want to make my stance on the movie nice and clear, I am all for Detective Pikachu.
I have seen people call the Pokémon designs creepy but I find them adorable, and yes I am including Mr Mine in that category. I mean, look how fluffy Pikachu looks! I wanna snuggle him so bad.
I will admit that since we have only have a short trailer to go my it is hard to tell how this movie will play out, but so far I like what I see.
I really like the animation they have used and I’m looking forward to seeing which other Pokémon will get the same treatment. Fingers crossed for a Zorua to pop up.
The story looks like it will be a straightforward buddy cop movie but with adorable (no I will not stop) monsters thrown in for good measure. I do wonder just how loyal this adaptation will be to the original game of the same name.
While I am glad they went with Ryan Renolds for the voice like others online I still kinda wish that Danny DeVito got the role.
Before I go any further I want to share something I found. It has since been changed but apparently Ikue Otani’s iconic voice has been used in all the trailers bar the German one and, well frankly words can’t describe it. Just watch for yourself. I laughed for a good few minutes watching it on repeat.
On the positive side of the internet, I saw some claiming that Detective Pikachu might be the first good video game movie. Honestly, I don’t think I would go that far, but I hope so.
I’m not expecting greatness or anything like that. All I want is a fun cute movie starring Pokémon. I’m a simple soul, just deliver that and I will be happy.
