The Doctor is almost in

The 11th season of Doctor Who is hitting the airwaves next week and I for one am excited.

With this new season comes a new Doctor which has kicked the hornet’s nest. In fairness, every time there is a new Doctor the fandom tends to get worked up but this changing of the guard changed the game.

I wrote about my opinion about the new Doctor back when it was announced, well I waited for a bit to hide from the firestorm so it went public in July 2017, so I thought I would share my new opinion on The Doctor now that we have more information.

Now that we have a few teasers and trailers, what do I think about her?

I love her already.

It seems like they are going down the Tennent route which I am not complaining about at all, the funny thing is the pair have worked together on Broadchurch so maybe he inspired her? Or maybe it’s because his version of the Timelord is one of the more popular ones in the recent roster so it’s probably that.

She is a lightning bolt of energy and we are already getting hits that she might be a more lighthearted and comedic Doctor, which I for one am grateful for. Not to harp on but Tennent’s Doctor worked so well because most of the time he was excitable and fun, so when things got serious it worked even better in contrast to the rest of the show.

 

Like I said before I grew up watching Doctor Who, as did my mum in fact. Me, mum, dad and my younger sister would watch the latest episode together. Looking back, it probably started my love of SciFi.

My sister and I were talking last night about the good old days and we reminisced about the times we spent watching the easter episodes with half of one of our eggs sitting on the floor cross-legged in front of the TV. Oh, the memories.

Sorry for the tangent, but the note I wanted to hit on is this seems like the Doctor Who I grew up on.

All in all, Jodie Whittaker has my support and I can’t wait to see her in action next Saturday.
