Scotland Loves Animation 2018: What Do We Know?

One of the perks of being an anime fan in Glasgow is the yearly event known as Scotland Loves Animation.

This event is held in Glasgow and Edinburgh every October so I always try to attend the Glasgow event. True it is on fewer days and has fewer movies but honestly, I don’t mind too much.

This year’s Glasgow Loves Animation will run from the 12th to the 14th and Edinburgh’s will run from 15th to the 21st.

79823lSo, what do we know about this year’s films for Glasgow Loves Animation?

The first film is Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky.

The Earth Federation’s Moore Brotherhood and the Principality of Zeon’s Living Dead Division face off in a brutal battle.

I know next to nothing about Gundam anime, so forgive the lacklustre description.

Next up is Cyber City Oedo 808.

When you are running low on police officers, who do you send out to defeat criminals? Other Criminals! For every case they close Sengoku, Gogol and Benten get their sentence shortened, but should they fail then they will be killed.

The first thing I noticed in the description is that the version they are showing is the dub. From my expecriance, they rarely show the dub so I can’t help but wonder why.

The third and the one I’m most excited about is My Hero Academia: The Two Heroes.

Deku and All Might are given an invitation to visit I-Island, a huge artificial moving city. I-Island is hosting an event known as I-Expo which is putting Quirk and hero item research on display.

I can’t wait for My Hero Academia: The Two Heroes! I have almost caught up with the anime so chances are I’ll be up to date when this rolls into town on the 13th.

Fans of the thriller B: The Beginning I have good news for you. They will be showing the opening episodes followed by a Q&A session with the series director, Kazuto Nakazawa.

Following that will be Penguin Highway, A story about a young boy who wants to solve the mystery of why a bunch of Penguins showed up all of a sudden out of nowhere. It looks seriously cute!

The first film on the last day is Fate/stay Night – Heaven’s Feel: Presage Flower.

I will admit that I know nothing about this series. I hear that it stars famous historical characters who fight each other? What I do know is that this franchise is ridiculously popular.

If that name sounds familiar, that is because he is also the Director of The Boy and the Beast and Wolf Children as well as other films.

In Mirai young boy, Kun is less than enthused about the birth of his sister, Mirai. That is until he meets an older version of his sister and the two start a journey through space and time.

The final film of this years Glasgow Loves Animation is I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. I can already tell that I am going to cry my eyes out at this one.

After finding the diary of his classmate, Sakura Yamauchi, Haruki Shiga discovered that she is terminally ill and doesn’t have long left. After promising not to tell anyone the pair grow closer.

All in all it looks like this years Glasgow Loves Animation is going to be a good one!
