Before I continue I feel that I should mention the fact that this is being written at nearly 11pm UK time on the 13th so chances are there might be some awesome announcements out now but I missed them.
Overall, this has been a rather interesting E3. Some promising games have been showcased and even a few that I never would have seen coming. What a ride.
So here are my personal top five favourite announcements of E3 2018!
5. Call of Cthulhu
Maybe it’s because I’ve been reading H.P Lovecraft recently, but man was I glad to see this.
Inspired by the classic D&D-like game of the same name, Call of Cthulhu: The Official Videogame follows Private Investigator Edward Pierce as he investigates the death of the Hawkins family on the unsettling Darkwater Island. Very appropriate name.
Surrounded by less than friendly locals and soon finding out that nothing is what it seems, Edward is walking a fine line between sanity and insanity.
I can’t wait to play this! Thankfully I won’t have to wait long as it will be out later this year.
4. Hitman 2
Time to reenter the world of assassination.
I have gushed about Hitman (2016) before and I am trying to contain myself even now.
To keep it short and sweet, I adored it. I still play it every now and again as there are so many different ways to kill your targets, not to mention the escalation missions and player made missions.
Needless to say, when I saw that not only is there going to be a sequel, it’s coming out this year.
I may or may not have cried a little.
The 13th of November can’t come soon enough.
3. Death Stranding
Kojima, never change
I both long to understand your work and pray I never uncover how your mind works.
I’m not sure what else to say about this one since pretty much everyone else has ranted about this game before I got the chance to.
Still, the more I learn about this game, the more intrigued I am.
2. Cyberpunk 2077
As someone who loves The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and SciFi, Cyberpunk 2077 immediately caught my eye.
Set in the dystopian Night City in California that V calls home, it is a city of dreams and nightmares.
V is a fully customisable character, from gender, appearance and even motivation. From what I have seen so far, it looks like your choices make an impact to the story, just the way I like it.
It seems like Cyberpunk 2077 is a cross between a shooter and RPG, which is rather promising.
At the time of writing the release date has not been revealed.
1. The Elder Scrolls VI
I lost my mind when this was announced. I burst into tears and screamed out in joy.
I bitterly joked with my colleague about how Fallout 76 was going to dominate E3 and there wasn’t going to be any new Elder Scrolls content. I even moaned about it in my Skyrim > Fallout ramble.
Way to make me look like an idiot, Todd Howard!
Jokes aside, I don’t care that we know next to nothing about this game, or that we might not even get our hands on it until the 2020’s. I’m fine with waiting, I’m just so glad to know that Elder Scrolls VI is in the works and on the way.
Yep, it’s been a good E3.
What games are you hyped up for? Let me know!
