Confessions of an Otaku: Part Two

I still have quite a lot to confess about on this subject.

Firstly, Thanks to being able to download anime on my phone thanks to Netflix I now watch anime on the go. Which doesn’t sound too bad but I learned the hard way to be careful about which anime series you watch in public.

tumblr_ossbdvglQo1vgzd4so4_250For instance, before heading to the station I downloaded the first three episodes of Kakegurui. Big mistake.

As I was watching it on the train, well, if you have seen the show you might know what I’m referring to, but to put it bluntly, the main character kinda looks and sounds like she’s getting off of gambling. Yeah.

Needless to say, I was wearing headphones, but I still felt the need to keep turning the volume down and did everything I could to prevent people from saying what was on my screen. I must have looked so suspicious.

Same goes during breaks at work or before my shift starts. Now I triple check that the anime in question isn’t going to disturb my co-workers if they walk into the break room. Even then I tend to pause it or turn my phone off.

Now, this is something I genuinely feel bad about, but I am ridiculously behind on the anime scene. I didn’t realise how bad it was until I went to vote in the Crunchyroll anime awards only to see that the vast majority of the nominees were shows I hadn’t seen or even heard of!

z1BSfkiAt this point, I feel like I’m the last on the bandwagon and even when I finally get on board everyone else is on the newest one! I’m constantly playing catch up and can no longer keep up with the community.

For every current show I watch, five slip right by me. I have no idea how people can keep up! If you are one of these people, please tell me how you do it, I need to know.

I have also fallen out of touch with the cosplay community. I used to attend meets every chance I got but now I don’t have the time, money or even the costumes. I honestly can’t remember the last time I went to a meet.

Well, that’s about all I need to get off my chest this time. If you excuse me, I have four anime queued up that I need to watch. Wish me luck!
