Batman takes on feudal Japan

12-1-I need to take my Batradar to the shop because it has failed me big time.

I had no idea about this upcoming movie until a friend informed me about it a few days ago. How did I miss this? The trailer was released back in the first week of December for crying out loud!

What annoys me the most about being late on the Batwagon (you will have to pry the bat puns out of my cold dead hands!) is that this film promises to be everything I dreamed of.

Anime film about Batman? Check. Set in feudal Japan? Check. Unique visual style and animation? Check.

On top of that, the screenplay was written by Kazuki Nakashima, the writer of Gurren Lagann and the creator of Afro Samurai Takashi Okazaki was the man who designed the reimagined versions of our favourite Dark Knight and his rogue gallery.

Batman Ninja follows Batman as he is transported back in time to feudal Japan to stop Joker from manipulating the past.

teodnrx8apan2cxjuwbpI only have two issues about this film. First off, why is it called Batman Ninja when his design looks more like a Samurai? I’m just saying, though if I had to guess I think its simply because Batman Ninja sounds cooler.

Secondly, at the time of writing, there is no official release date. Why do you torture me so, DC? You wave this amazing anime film in my face without telling me when I can watch it? You are more twisted than the Joker.

With all that said, just knowing that this film exists and will be released sometime this year makes me happy and hopeful for the rest of this year. Let’s not forget Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is coming out on DVD next month.

Maybe 2018 will be the year of the Bat? I for one hope so!
