Unlucky for some

FridayThe13thPosterI may or may not have spent the past week binge-watching horror films. Mostly Friday the 13th films.

It has been 37 years since the first Friday the 13th and this franchise continues to scare us.

I will be the first to admit that the original films are a bit on the cheesy side, and while these films scared the living daylights out of me, that isn’t saying much since I am a Scaredy-cat by nature. Heck, I even wrote an article about how much of a wimp I am.

That being said, I love this franchise. I haven’t seen all the films yet, but I am getting there. At the time of writing, I have seen the first five and Freddy VS Jason. I simply can’t get enough

I am not the only one, with 12 films, several books, comics and games it’s pretty obvious that Jason is a fan favourite for a reason.

So, what does the future hold for Jason?

Well, outside of Friday the 13th: The Game getting updates now and again, not a lot.

giphy (1)He was going to have one last movie but the failure of Rings at the box office lead to the 13th movie being cancelled. Friday The 13th: Camp Blood – The Death Of Jason Voorhees was planned to be released this year tomorrow and was going to be the definitive end of the movies.

The project was canned back in February and I for one am gutted this happened. From what I could tell, this film was going to not only end the series but answer several questions longtime fans had about the lore of the franchise.

Thankfully, not only are the screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift hopeful that this film will be made one day, they are sharing Friday the 13th content on their joint Twitter account. If you want to find out more, check it out.
