With MCM Scotland Comic Con just two weeks away, I am glad to say that my cosplay for this year’s event is ready and I can’t wait to wear it!
This year I am going as Kobayashi from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and my Best Friend is coming with me as Tohru.
I am really proud of how my costume turned out, especially considering the issue I had about the glasses. You see, when the glasses arrived there was a massive imprint that read “Exclusive for Geroge” on the lens. I was furious. This wasn’t in any of the pictures and was only mentioned at the bottom of the item description.
Unfortunately, in my attempt to remove the nuisance I ended up melting the lens. In the end, we had to remove the plastic lenses from the frame. I personally think this was for the best as I will be wearing a wig, long sleave shirt and a thick woolly sweater in a hot area. Chances are they might have gotten fogged up.
While I am decent with replicating outfits and know the basics of sewing, I am horrible with makeup. Enter bestie who has been trying to teach me how to apply makeup for years.
We try to hang out at least once a week and for the last three weeks every time I come over she practices my cosplay makeup on me.
Not that I am complaining. Quite the opposite actually. I am extremely thankful that she does my makeup for me and takes the time to try to teach me how to do my own.
I used to cosplay a lot, but there are fewer opportunities to do so these days. On top of that, there is a bit of drama in my local cosplay community. There is even a rumour going around about me, apparently. Ever since I found out I was devastated and lost my motivation to cosplay.
It took a while but I now feel confident enough to get back on the saddle and get back into the wonderful wacky world of cosplay. Bring on MCM Scotland Comic Con!
